Enameled Pendants and Cabochons

Workshop Description:
This workshop will introduce enameling basics and utilization of those fundamental techniques on copper shapes suitable for use as a pendant or cabochon.  A variety of methods for creating an interesting enameled surface on slightly formed copper shapes will be demonstrated.


The basics techniques covered will be ;
 -metals suitable for enameling and their preparation for enameling;
 -enamel types and preparation for use;
 -wet and dry enamel application methods
 -how to determine “which color to use first”  


Methods for creating interesting and varied designs will include use of;
 -application of fine silver or 24kt. gold foil to create a design or pattern over the enamel color;  
 -application of 24 kt. gold leaf to create an “organic” looking gold  surface over the enamel color;  
 -application of overglaze decals;
 -stencils – perforated metal, hot glue, Riso Screen printing, found natural objects as a stencil,
 -seed bead overlay
 -sgraffito

Demonstrations and working time will be structured to allow participants the opportunity to complete several enameled pendants or cabochons.
