Class: Introduction To Micro-Macramé & Cavandoli Knotwork Date: October 4th - 10:00am-4:30pm Level: Beginner-Intermediate
Description: This class is designed to introduce the student to the essential knots and techniques required to create beautiful micro-macramé jewelry. The emphasis will be on Cavandoli, or tapestry knotting, which is a style of macramé that resembles tapestry weaving. We will discuss the various cords and materials, incorporating beads with the knotwork, and proper knotting techniques. The student will begin with a practice sampler of basic knots, then work on a bookmark or a pair of earrings in the second part of the class. The instructors required kit will include detailed instructions and knot diagrams, practice cord, and materials for a bookmark. An additional earring kit may be purchased separately. The student must provide their own macramé board, sewing pins, embroidery needle, and scissors.
Class: Cavandoli Pendant Date: October 5th - 10:00am-4:30pm Level: Intermediate
Description: Building on the skills learned in the introductory class, the student will take their macramé knotting skills to the next level by further exploring the technique of Cavandoli. Through the framework of a rectangular pendant, the student will learn how to create geometrical patterns with colored cords and knots using this technique that is similar to weaving but doesnt require a loom. The course will cover how to graph your own designs and how to add beads to enhance your creations. The instructors required kit includes instructions and all materials for the pendant necklace. The student must provide their own macramé board, sewing pins, embroidery needles, beading needle & thread for fringe, and scissors. |
