Designing with Pave' Stone Setting

Class Fee: $108.00 + materials

Description:
The most versatile stone setting techniques are often shrouded in mystery.  Lift back the curtain and learn the techniques of bead setting, pave' and gypsy setting faceted and cabochon cut stones.   Unlike many settings which need to be constructed and soldered, these styles of setting require no torch skills and only basic familiarity with jewelry tools like the drill and flex shaft.  From tool prep to setting, you will learn the steps needed to set stones on nearly any type of metal jewelry.

This class will then explore ways in which pave settings can be applied to simple pierced and formed shapes to create beautiful and complex effects.  Working from your own original design, we will go through the process of piercing, forming and setting a pendant in silver or copper.

The class will cover, layout, forming, embellishment and transferring your design from paper to metal.  No solder skills necessary, but you should be comfortable with piercing.  Design guidance for those who love to draw and hate to draw will also be part of the class.
