Sherri Haab Transfer Images on PMC Etching Silver

Description: Image Transfer On PMC Saturday October 23rd - 10:00am-4:00pm
Learn basics of PMC silver and how to create simple pendants or bracelet plaques to which images will be applied. After firing and finishing your pieces, a special transfer solution and paper allow you to transfer color or black and white laser images and photos to the surface of the metal. Images will be provided. As a bonus, you will learn how to use the same solution to mix your own metal and glass paints with powdered pigments. The color is permanent and looks like glass enamel. The finished pieces are durable and have a timeless, soft, ethereal look. This is a project workshop, with finished pieces ready to attach to chain
Electro Etching on Silver, Copper and Brass Sunday October 24th - 10:00am-4:00pm
In this workshop you'll be introduced to new methods and technology developed for electro-etching on various metals. Learn everything youve ever wanted to know about etching including methods for etching on copper, brass, fine silver and sterling--even bronze and silver metal clay! This is of particular interest for those who have always wanted to etch but have avoided it in the past due to the hazardous chemicals that are tradiionally used, particularly with silver. Each student will get the chance to etch a piece of metal (including silver) that can then be used to make jewelry or as a relief plate to texture metal clay. A variety of resist methods will be demonstrated including simple ways to transfer toner to metal, UV Film and special paints that work very well for the purpose of applying original designs to the metal. As a bonus the class will include how to punch holes and rivet using a brand new tool and rivet heads.

Artists Bio: Sherri Haab is a best selling craft author with over 23 published books to her credit, with several selling over a million copies each. Award winning titles such as: The Incredible Clay Book (Klutz), The Art of Metal Clay, Metal Clay and Mixed Media Jewelry, The Art of Resin Jewelry, Beaded Macramé Jewelry and Designer Style Jewelry (Watson Guptill). Publishing honoraries include Craftrends 2006 & 2007 Best General Craft Book Award, Publisher's Weekly Cuffie Award, and Oppenheim's Toy Portfolio Gold Award. She has recently released how-to DVDs on Metal Clay and Resin Jewelry (CCP videos). Television appearances include: The Carol Duvall Show (HGTV), Jewelry Making (DIY), Good Things Utah (ABC) and Beads, Baubles and Jewels (PBS). Sherri is a certified metal clay instructor, leading numerous craft and jewelry making workshops internationally. Sherri has been a pioneer in the American Metal Clay revolution since 1996 when it was first introduced in the US. She is known for tracking trends in the craft industry and then educating consumers about how to use new products and techniques. Her own product, "ITS", is one example of a new craft innovation. This product allows printed images to be applied to polymer, tile and metal clay. She now resides in Springville, Utah with her husband and three children.
